Privacy Policy

OKNext (“OKNext”, “we”, “us”) is a page-discovery service: you pick some categories, press one button, and land on a hand-picked page you probably wouldn’t have found on your own. This policy explains what we collect when you use the website or the browser toolbar, why, how long we keep it, and what control you have over it.

We don’t sell your data, we don’t run third-party ad networks or tracking pixels, and we don’t build a profile of you to target you elsewhere.

What we collect

If you create an account

• Your name and email address.
• A one-way hash of your password (we never store the password itself).
• Your plan (Free or Pro) and, for moderators, a trust score used for abuse prevention.

As you use OKNext

• Your history — which pages we served you through OKNext and when. This is what powers the history view in Settings and stops us from showing you the same page twice in quick succession.
• Your feedback — thumbs up / thumbs down on a page (kept private, never shown publicly or to the page’s owner), pages you report, and pages you submit.
• Your preferences — the categories you follow, your language and sensitive-content settings.
• Where you are in the sequence — a small amount of state so “Next” and “Back” work.

If you subscribe to Pro

• Payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We store your Stripe customer ID, your subscription status, and your card’s brand and last four digits (shown back to you at checkout).

Technical

• A session record when you’re signed in on the website, which includes your IP address and browser user-agent string. These are short-lived (see Retention).
• An API token for the toolbar or a future mobile app, so it can act on your behalf without your password.
• Standard server request logs kept by our hosting providers (Vercel for the website, DigitalOcean for the API).

If you use OKNext as a guest (no account)

• A random guest identifier is generated and stored in your own browser so “Next” keeps working across pages. The pages served to guests are recorded against a single shared placeholder account, not tied to your identity, and are deleted on the same schedule as Free-account history.

The browser toolbar specifically

The toolbar is allowed to run on every website so the “OK Next” button is available wherever you are. It does not extract, store, or transmit any information about the pages you visit — no text, no form data, no browsing activity — and does not track what you do on them.

• It stores, only in your own browser’s extension storage: your login token, your basic profile (name, email, plan), the ID of the current OKNext page, a guest ID, and whether you’ve collapsed the bar. None of this is transmitted anywhere except to carry out your own requests to the OKNext API.
• The only thing it reads about the page you’re on is the current tab’s URL, and only at the moment you click “Submit this page”.
• To avoid the bar visually overlapping a site’s own fixed header, it checks the position and size of elements already on the page (not their text or content) so it can nudge a conflicting header down by the bar’s height. This check runs locally, never leaves your browser, and nothing about it is stored or transmitted.
• All of the toolbar’s code ships inside the extension; nothing is loaded remotely.

How we use what we collect

• To serve you the next page, honoring your categories, language, and content settings, and avoiding pages you’ve just seen.
• To show you your own recent history.
• To show sponsored placements. On the Free plan, roughly one page in seven is a paid placement, matched to the categories you already follow — not to anything about you personally. We keep a per-day count of how many times each sponsored page was shown and how many visitors we sent onward to it, so we can bill the sponsor and give them reporting. Those daily counts contain no information about you — they’re just totals — and the individual per-user records they’re derived from are deleted on the same 7-day schedule as everything else below.
• To keep the catalog healthy — acting on reports, maintaining a moderator trust score, and blocking abusive domains and accounts.
• To process your Pro subscription (via Stripe).
• To send you transactional email, such as a password-reset link (via Resend). We don’t send marketing email.

AI classification of submitted pages

When you submit a page, its URL and the page’s own public title and description are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which suggests a category for it. No information about your account is included. A human moderator reviews the result before the page goes live.

How long we keep it

• Your browsing history: 7 days on the Free plan, 90 days on Pro. After that it is permanently deleted. This runs automatically, every day. You can see everything we currently hold in the history view in Settings — we delete it on exactly the same schedule that we stop showing it to you.
• One-time redirect tokens and per-user sponsored-placement events: 7 days. The anonymized per-day totals derived from them (impressions and visitors sent, per sponsored page, with no user information) are kept for as long as we need them for advertiser billing and reporting.
• Your votes, reports, and submitted pages: kept for as long as your account exists, because they’re part of the catalog’s moderation record.
• Session records (including IP address and user-agent): cleared when you log out, and automatically expire after about two hours of inactivity.
• Your account details: kept until you ask us to delete your account (see Your choices).

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers we need to run OKNext:

• Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
• Anthropic — categorizing pages you submit (URL and public page metadata only).
• Resend — sending transactional email (your email address).
• Vercel and DigitalOcean — hosting the website, API, and database.

We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of OKNext, our users, or the public.

Your choices

• View your full retained history any time in Settings.
• Change your categories and preferences any time.
• Log out — the toolbar keeps working in guest mode.
• Ask us to delete your account and its associated data by emailing privacy@oknext.page. We will erase your account, history, preferences, votes, reports, and submissions, except where we’re required to keep something to comply with the law.
• If you’re in the EU, UK, or California, you also have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data. Contact us at the address above and we’ll respond within the time your local law requires.

Children

OKNext isn’t directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU), and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we’ll give you notice before it takes effect.
